1. Choose and verify the course
Start with the course and the outcome you want, not only the university name. Decide whether you need full-time, part-time, blended or distance study, whether you can commute or relocate, and whether a foundation year may be useful.

2. Check entry, fee and funding requirements
Entry requirements can include A levels, BTECs, T Levels, Access to HE Diplomas, GCSE English and maths, subject-specific qualifications, relevant experience, a portfolio, interview, audition, admissions test, DBS or occupational health checks.
If you are a mature applicant or have non-standard qualifications, ask whether the university considers prior learning, work experience, an Access to HE Diploma or a foundation year. This does not guarantee admission, but it gives you an accurate answer instead of relying on an assumption.
Home fee status is a tuition-fee classification decided by the university. Student Finance England eligibility is assessed separately and can also depend on the course, provider, previous study and individual circumstances.
If you have lived abroad, recently returned to the UK, hold EU Settlement Scheme status or have another immigration category, the university may ask you to complete a fee-status assessment. Give accurate dates and evidence.

3. Choose the correct application route
Most full-time undergraduate applications use UCAS, but the correct route depends on the course, provider, intake and study mode. UCAS advises part-time applicants to contact providers directly because part-time options vary.

4. Check the 2027 application dates
For 2027 UCAS entry, completed applications can be submitted from 1 September 2026.
The equal-consideration deadline is 15 October 2026 at 18:00 UK time for Oxford and Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine or science courses. For most other undergraduate courses it is 13 January 2027 at 18:00 UK time.
These are UCAS dates, not universal direct-application deadlines. Universities may set different direct, part-time, portfolio, audition or course-specific dates. Applications after the main UCAS deadline may still be considered for many courses, but equal consideration is not guaranteed.
5. Prepare the application and reference
Depending on the course and application route, you may be asked for some of the following: your legal name and contact details, identity evidence, residence or immigration evidence, complete education history, certificates, transcripts, English and maths evidence, employment history, a CV, a written application, referee details, a portfolio or professional documents.
Use consistent names and dates. If your name differs from a certificate, prepare evidence linking the two names. Never alter a certificate, transcript, reference or result. Explain any discrepancy honestly.
For 2027 UCAS entry, applicants answer three personal-statement questions rather than submitting one uninterrupted essay. Direct applications may use their own questions or request a single statement. Check the current UCAS personal-statement guidance before submitting.
A standard UCAS undergraduate application normally needs a reference before it can be submitted. UCAS also provides a process for applicants seeking permission to apply without one. Other routes may have different requirements. Choose someone who can comment credibly on your academic readiness, professional conduct or course suitability.
6. Submit and track the application
Check your name, dates, addresses, all qualifications including pending results, exact course, campus and intake, referee details, uploaded files and declarations. Save the submitted application, confirmation, applicant ID and portal login.
If Ready Study Global submits a direct application with your authority, keep your own copy of every document and check the information before submission.
Monitor your email, spam folder and applicant portal. Universities may request certificates, fee-status evidence, a reference, a portfolio, an interview, clarification or course-specific documents such as DBS or occupational health forms. Respond by the stated deadline, or contact the university before it expires.
7. Understand and respond to offers
A conditional offer may require grades, certificates, verified results, an interview, portfolio, DBS or occupational health checks, or English-language evidence. An unconditional offer can still require identity checks, enrolment and funding steps.
The university may also ask you to complete a separate fee-status assessment before enrolment or before confirming the tuition fee you will pay.
Before paying a non-refundable deposit or arranging accommodation, check every offer condition, payment term and cancellation rule.
8. Apply for finance and complete enrolment
A university application does not create a Student Finance England application. Apply when the correct funding route opens. GOV.UK guidance says you do not need a confirmed place before applying, and you can update the course or university details later.
For eligible courses starting on or after 1 January 2027, funding will normally move to the Lifelong Learning Entitlement system. Applications are expected to open in September 2026. Read the Ready Study Global LLE guide and check the current official LLE guidance.
You may then need to accept the offer, upload results or identity evidence, complete funding declarations, finish professional checks, register online and attend enrolment. Student Finance England normally releases Maintenance Loan payments after the provider confirms registration. Tuition Fee Loans are paid directly to the provider.
