Education system
Institution type and programme design matter.
U.S. higher education includes community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and graduate schools. Programmes are commonly credit-based, but curriculum, transfer rules, admissions and graduation requirements are set by the institution and sometimes by a specific school or department.
Community college
Associate-degree and certificate routes may provide direct study or a transfer pathway. Any transfer agreement and credit recognition should be confirmed before enrolment.
Undergraduate study
Bachelor’s programmes combine major requirements with institution-specific general education and elective credits. Course selection and progression rules vary.
Graduate study
Master’s and doctoral applications may have separate university and departmental requirements, including recommendations, statements, tests, portfolios or research evidence.
English and short-term study
Language, exchange and short-term routes can use different academic and immigration categories. Confirm the programme award, credit value and correct official route.
