How It Works

This Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is a 60-credit qualification (equivalent to one A-Level). The objective is to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a support worker, senior support worker or care assistant level. The qualification consists of 6 modules and assignments for a combined total of 60 credits.

    Effective Communication and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care (10 credits)

    Explores the importance of communication, focusing on meeting individual needs and preferences. Covers equality, diversity, and rights.

  4. 4

    Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)

    Knowledge and skills to promote health and safety in the workplace. Addresses safeguarding, including identifying types of abuse and their signs.

  5. 5

    Person-centred Approaches in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)

    Understand how to implement and promote person-centred approaches, focusing on the individual and their abilities rather than their condition or disability.

  6. 6

    Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)

    Covers confidentiality and ethical practices in managing information, focusing on good practice in recording, sharing, storing, and accessing data.

Assignments

Assessment is carried out through completely online written assignments, instead of traditional examinations. For this course, there are 6 written assignments, each requiring approximately 2,000–3,000 words.

You can submit your assignments securely through the online learning portal at your own pace. Assignments are then thoroughly marked and reviewed by your tutor, with detailed feedback provided to support your progress.

Entry Requirements

To enrol on this course, you must be at least 16 years old and have completed a full secondary education. Work experience may also be considered for mature students who do not meet the formal educational requirements.
