UWTSD Master's Degrees 2027: London and Birmingham
By Ready Study Global Editorial Team
Official sources checked: 21–22 October 2026. Deadlines, course availability and individual eligibility can change, so confirm them with UWTSD before applying.
UWTSD offers a useful choice for graduates looking to study business, computing or public health in London or Birmingham. Its official application catalogue lists January 2027 routes: International Business MBA and Public Health and Social Care in Practice MSc in both cities, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics MSc in London, and Data and Artificial Intelligence MSc in Birmingham. Its published 2026/27 standard full-time on-campus master’s fee is £7,800 per year for Home students or £17,500 per year for international students. Eligible students who normally live in England may be able to use a Postgraduate Master’s Loan of up to £13,206 towards tuition and living costs; eligibility is not guaranteed.
The full-time courses are advertised as one year or 12 months. Birmingham also has a January part-time application route for Data and Artificial Intelligence. For international applicants, UWTSD’s published January 2027 application deadlines are 24 November 2026 for Birmingham and 8 December 2026 for London. Your best starting point is the subject and campus that fit you—not an assumption that every UWTSD master’s is available in both cities. Check the official application catalogue.
This guide separates January application listings, advertised later starts and the published 2026/27 fee schedule. It covers campus-based taught master’s study, not every postgraduate course at UWTSD. Funding information focuses on Student Finance England; other UK funding bodies have different rules.
Which UWTSD master’s courses are listed for January 2027?
The current application catalogue lists the following routes. London starts are shown as 25 January 2027 and Birmingham starts as 11 January 2027. These are advertised course starts, not application deadlines or a guarantee that a place remains available.

|---|---|---|---|
| International Business MBA | London | Full-time | 1 year |
| Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics MSc | London | Full-time | 12 months |
| Public Health and Social Care in Practice MSc | London | Full-time | 1 year |
| International Business MBA | Birmingham | Full-time | 1 year |
| Data and Artificial Intelligence MSc | Birmingham | Full-time and part-time | 12 months for full-time; confirm part-time duration |
| Public Health and Social Care in Practice MSc | Birmingham | Full-time | 1 year |

Later 2027 starts appear on individual course pages: May for London’s MBA, Cybersecurity MSc and Public Health MSc; June for Birmingham’s MBA; May for Birmingham’s Public Health MSc; and May and September for Birmingham’s full-time Data and AI MSc. Check later-intake application dates directly with UWTSD.
What would you study—and which course fits your goal?
International Business MBA: management across markets
The London MBA and Birmingham MBA bring together financial management, marketing, strategy, human capital management and international business.
A practical strength is the final component: the published curriculum includes a dissertation, integrated case study or business development proposal. That gives you a concrete question to ask at an open day: which option would let you investigate a business problem relevant to your own experience or ambitions?
This is worth shortlisting if you want broader management knowledge rather than a narrowly technical qualification. The university describes coursework-based assessment, including projects, presentations and case-study analysis. It is a course to investigate for management development—not a promise of promotion, business success or a particular salary.
Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics MSc: protecting systems and investigating incidents
The London Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics MSc combines security and investigation. Published modules include ethical hacking, enterprise network security, digital forensics analysis, cloud engineering, data security and a master’s project.
UWTSD also describes industry-certification curricula, including CEH, CHFI, CCNA and CCSA, within the programme. Treat this as preparation and curriculum content: it does not mean you automatically receive every vendor certification when you complete the MSc. Ask which examination opportunities, fees and facilities apply to the London cohort.
If you enjoy analysing how systems fail, testing defences and documenting evidence, this is a more focused option than a general business degree. Ask the course team how its practical work matches your existing technical skills.
Data and Artificial Intelligence MSc: a technical Birmingham option
The Birmingham Data and Artificial Intelligence MSc covers data mining and visualisation, advanced statistical programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data security and a master’s project.
The appeal is the combination of analytical and applied computing work. The assessment description includes coursework, portfolios, laboratory-based practical examinations and written examinations, with a report and oral presentation for project work.
Check the entry requirement carefully. The detailed Birmingham page specifies a computing or related qualification route, or IT industry experience together with an honours degree. Do not assume it is a conversion master’s for any graduate simply because another UWTSD course with a similar name may have different requirements.
For working applicants, the January part-time listing is useful to investigate. Get its duration, attendance pattern, fee and funding registration confirmed separately; the full-time course page does not establish all those part-time details. If you require Student visa sponsorship, ask UWTSD specifically whether it can sponsor this part-time Birmingham route. UK Student visa rules can allow qualifying part-time study at RQF level 7 or above, but that does not establish university sponsorship for this particular course. UWTSD’s MBA, Cybersecurity and Public Health course pages advise international students who need a Student visa to apply for their full-time routes, which they describe as qualifying for sponsorship. The checked Data and AI page does not include equivalent sponsorship guidance. UK Student visa course rules and UWTSD Birmingham MBA course guidance.
Public Health and Social Care in Practice MSc: connecting research with services
The London and Birmingham courses address public health, service organisation, leadership and longer-term conditions.
Published core modules include social epidemiology and public health development, practice-based research, health-care system organisation and leadership, community care and a dissertation. Optional areas include partnership working, service improvement and digital health promotion.
This is a useful course to explore if your interests sit between population health, care services and evidence-led improvement. If your goal is entry to a regulated clinical or social-work profession, check the required professional qualification separately. A master’s title alone does not establish professional registration eligibility.
Across these courses, published module lists are examples of the curriculum, not a guarantee that every option will run unchanged in your intake. Ask about your cohort’s modules and final-project choices when comparing offers.
What are the entry requirements?
The MBA, London Cybersecurity MSc and Public Health MSc pages publish a 2:2 honours degree or a UWTSD-recognised equivalent. The Birmingham Data and AI page gives the more specific technical routes described above. The detailed course requirement matters more than a short headline such as “2:2”.
For the courses covered here, published English-language guidance gives a usual Academic IELTS requirement of 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, where English evidence is required. The university also accepts other English-language tests on the MBA, Cybersecurity and Public Health pages. Check what evidence UWTSD accepts for your qualification, course and circumstances rather than assuming an exemption. Example: London MBA entry details.
Some course pages describe an alternative entry route: a Postgraduate Certificate presented as the first part of the full master’s, after which successful students may become eligible to progress. Discuss the exact terms with admissions, especially if you are returning after a gap or do not meet the standard requirement. You cannot use England’s Postgraduate Master’s Loan to fund a PGCert or PGDip as the course being taken. However, already holding a PGCert or PGDip does not, by itself, disqualify you from a loan for a later eligible full master’s. The master’s must be a full, standalone course, not a top-up, and meet the course and personal eligibility rules. There is no verified evidence here establishing whether UWTSD’s specific PGCert-to-master’s progression route is registered as SFE-eligible, so get the exact award and funding registration confirmed before accepting it. Official Master’s Loan eligibility.
A sensible enquiry includes your degree title, awarding institution, transcript, relevant work experience and the exact course/campus you want. Let UWTSD assess equivalence and entry; do not rely on a generic overseas-grade conversion or a promise that work experience replaces the degree requirement.
What is studying at the London or Birmingham campus like?
UWTSD describes its London campus at Westferry Circus in Canary Wharf, with business, computing and health-and-social-care study, practical workshops and individual support. For someone already living or working within reach of east London, the location may make campus-based postgraduate study a practical option.
The Birmingham campus page describes two locations: Quay Place in the city centre and Stratford Road in Sparkhill. It advertises weekday or weekend study options across its provision. That flexibility is worth asking about, but it does not establish a weekend timetable for every master’s or intake.
Before you make work or childcare arrangements, ask:
- Which physical site teaches my course?
- On which days and at what times must I attend?
- How much independent study, group work and project work should I plan for?
- Are practical sessions or assessments held outside the usual timetable?
- What happens if my work rota conflicts with attendance?
A compact timetable is not the same as a light workload. Plan around the whole master’s, not only the hours spent in a classroom. If you need a fully online course, compare an explicitly distance-learning programme rather than treating these campus routes as interchangeable with online study.
How much do UWTSD master’s degrees cost?
UWTSD’s published 2026/27 schedule gives the following standard full-time on-campus fees for MA, MSc, MTh and MBA courses, except where a separate rate is specified:
| Fee category | Published standard on-campus fee | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Home | £7,800 per year | Full-time standard master’s rate, 2026/27 |
| International | £17,500 per year | Full-time standard master’s rate, 2026/27 |
Source: UWTSD tuition fee schedule.
These are published 2026/27 schedule rates, not a personalised offer. The published schedule does not explicitly confirm which fee year will govern a January 2027 entrant. UWTSD also states that international fees are reviewed annually and may rise with inflation in each year of study. Ask the university to confirm the total fee for your exact course, campus, mode and intake, your fee status, any deposit and the payment schedule. For the part-time Data and AI route, request a specific quote rather than dividing the full-time fee yourself.
Keep tuition and living costs separate. Build your budget from:
- the confirmed course fee and payment dates;
- rent, bills and food;
- transport to your assigned teaching site;
- equipment and study materials you actually need;
- childcare or reduced earnings, if relevant;
- visa, health-charge and other immigration costs, where applicable.
For a broader planning checklist, our UK study-cost guide for international students covers additional expense categories. Its figures are not a UWTSD offer or a replacement for current quotes.
Can you get Student Finance for a UWTSD master’s?
For an eligible standalone master’s, the relevant England route is the Postgraduate Master’s Loan. Do not assume that a January 2027 start makes an MBA or MSc an LLE-funded course. The official guidance distinguishes standalone master’s loans from integrated and other courses with different funding routes. Check the course rules.
The current published loan maximum is £13,206 for courses starting on or after 1 August 2026. The loan is paid to you for fees and living costs, rather than as a separate tuition loan plus a separate maintenance loan. It is divided across the years if your course lasts more than one year. Official loan amounts and payment rules.
Illustrative budget, not an eligibility decision: if your confirmed tuition is £7,800 and you qualify for the full £13,206 loan, subtracting tuition leaves £5,406 towards your other costs. That is not a living-cost allowance or proof that your budget works. Payments arrive in instalments, with the first after registration is confirmed, so check how those dates fit the university’s payment requirements.
Eligibility depends on the course, your age and your nationality or residence category. Official requirements include a full standalone master’s worth at least 180 credits, an eligible provider and registered course, and being under 60 on 1 January 2027 for a January 2027 start. Official Master’s Loan guidance defines the academic year as starting on 1 January for courses beginning from January to March. An earlier PGCert/PGDip does not itself bar a later eligible master’s loan, although previous master’s qualifications or funding may do so. Ask UWTSD to confirm the exact course’s funding registration and let Student Finance England assess your personal route.
Settled or pre-settled status is not an automatic funding decision. The standard route for UK and Irish citizens and people with settled status also requires you to normally live in England and to have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for three years in a row before the first day of the course’s first academic year. Official guidance sets out different nationality and residence tests for different applicant categories; the standard UK/Irish/settled route must not be applied universally to people relying on another route, including relevant EU Settlement Scheme categories. Do not import tuition-only or maintenance rules from an undergraduate guide into a master’s application. Read the postgraduate eligibility guidance.
If you normally live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, check that funding body’s postgraduate system. Moving to England to study does not count as normally living there under the Master’s Loan rules; the relevant funding body determines where you normally live and which eligibility category applies. Official overview.
Repayment is part of the decision
This is a repayable loan, not free tuition. The current Postgraduate Loan repayment rule is 6% of income above £21,000 a year, with interest added to the balance. If you also have an undergraduate loan, postgraduate repayments can run alongside the applicable undergraduate repayments. These are current rules, not a promise that thresholds or interest will remain unchanged. Official repayment guidance.
Are scholarships available?
UWTSD publishes an International Office Scholarship of up to £3,000 for international applicants from Asia or Africa applying for a master’s-level course. Its published International Office award rules require self-funded international students applying to an on-campus, full-time course. The official page states that students are entitled to only one scholarship and that multiple scholarships will not be awarded; the page does not establish a broader scope for that restriction. Read the International Office Scholarship conditions.
The International Office Alumni Scholarship, also up to £3,000, is aimed at international alumni entering a postgraduate taught course. It requires completion of a previous full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course awarded by UWTSD or the University of Wales, studied at one of UWTSD’s main UK campuses or through an overseas collaborative partner. The same published International Office conditions concerning self-funding, on-campus full-time study and one scholarship appear on this page. Read the alumni conditions.
Neither page, as checked, confirms the award’s availability for a specific London or Birmingham campus course or any 2027 intake. These are maximum published values, not automatic discounts or confirmed awards. Ask UWTSD for written confirmation of campus, intake, award eligibility and amount before treating a scholarship as part of your budget; do not subtract £3,000 from tuition automatically. UWTSD’s separate International Alumni Postgraduate Taught Discount applies only to programmes based at its Welsh campuses, so it does not cover these London and Birmingham courses.
How do you apply, and what are the January 2027 international deadlines?
UWTSD’s official postgraduate route allows applications directly to the university or through an approved agent. Use the university’s course selector to identify the course, campus, mode and intake; follow its official international application guidance for the applicable application process. Ready Study Global can discuss general comparisons, funding information and study options. The enquiry link in this article is for general guidance; submitting it is not itself a UWTSD application or an enrolment offer.
UWTSD’s official international application deadlines, directly checked on 22 October 2026, list the following milestones for the Spring (January) 2027 intake:
| Campus | Application deadline | Credibility interview | CAS deadline | Course starts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| London | 8 December 2026 | 22 December 2026 | 8 January 2027 | 25 January 2027 |
| Birmingham | 24 November 2026 | 8 December 2026 | 18 December 2026 | 11 January 2027 |
UWTSD lists a credibility interview between the application and CAS deadlines; ask admissions how and when yours will be arranged. These are the university’s reported international applicant milestones, not universal Home-student deadlines or a guarantee that places are available. An intermediary may operate earlier internal deadlines. A CAS deadline is not a visa-decision date. Recheck these dates on UWTSD’s official page and with admissions before relying on them, particularly Birmingham’s 24 November cut-off. If that date has passed when you read this, ask admissions whether the intake is still accepting applications or consider a later intake. When we checked, the same page’s Summer 2027 section showed January dates, so we have not used it.
Before accepting, get the important details in writing: exact award, start date, teaching site, study mode, tuition and deposit, timetable, any scholarship, and the course’s funding status where relevant. That turns a promising course into a plan you can evaluate properly.
Is UWTSD the right choice for you?
UWTSD is worth shortlisting if one of these subjects matches your goal, you want a defined campus-based master’s route, and London or Birmingham works for your circumstances. The MBA’s applied final-project options, the Cybersecurity MSc’s security-and-forensics combination, the Data and AI MSc’s analytical content and the Public Health MSc’s research-and-services focus give you concrete features to compare.
The university appears on the UK government’s list of recognised bodies in Wales that can award degrees. That establishes degree-awarding recognition; it does not guarantee a job, professional licence or automatic recognition in every overseas system. Official recognised-bodies list.
Compare alternatives if you need a different specialist subject, a genuinely online timetable, a confirmed placement or professional-registration route. Ask every institution the same practical questions: what will I study, where must I attend, what will it cost, and what does this qualification actually support?
If you would like help organising that comparison, explore your study options with Ready Study Global. You can compare courses, explore funding information and ask about general eligibility considerations. Submitting the enquiry form is not a UWTSD application, and neither admission nor funding is guaranteed.
Ready Study Global does not charge students a consultancy fee for its general study-options guidance. University tuition, deposits, visa fees, tests, accommodation and other provider or third-party costs remain payable. Course comparisons should reflect your background, goals, budget and realistic options.
Ready Study Global does not provide legal, immigration or regulated financial advice. Admissions, visa, fee-status and student-finance decisions are made by the relevant institutions and public authorities.
Frequently asked questions
Can I study the same UWTSD master’s in either city?
Not always. The January listings show International Business and Public Health in both cities, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics in London, and Data and Artificial Intelligence in Birmingham. Check the campus attached to the exact course rather than relying on a university-wide course list.
Is there a part-time UWTSD master’s in Birmingham?
The official catalogue lists a January 2027 part-time route for Data and Artificial Intelligence. Confirm its duration, timetable, fee and funding registration separately. If you need a Student visa, ask UWTSD whether it can sponsor this specific part-time route: UK rules allow some part-time study at RQF level 7 or above, but UWTSD’s other master’s pages direct visa applicants to full-time courses.
Can a non-computing graduate join Birmingham’s Data and AI MSc?
The detailed Birmingham entry wording specifies computing or a related qualification, or IT industry experience with an honours degree. Ask the admissions team to assess your background. Do not assume a course description for another campus establishes your eligibility in Birmingham.
Does the master’s loan cover all my costs?
Not necessarily. The current England maximum is £13,206 for the stated start-date period, covering fees and living costs together. Your entitlement, confirmed tuition, living budget and payment timing all matter; a maximum loan is not a fully funded offer.
Can I rely on a May or June 2027 place now?
Later starts are advertised on individual course pages, but the application catalogue checked here listed January routes and the latest summer deadlines still need direct confirmation. Confirm the later intake and its deadlines directly before committing money or making relocation plans.
